How did East Side Frames start?

Located in the Amish community in Honey Brook, Pennsylvania (near Lancaster county), my business started as a hobby in 2012. With a background in construction and woodcraft, I became interested in working with tobacco lath because of the originality and rawness of the wood. I enjoy the simple process of “using what you have” and showcasing the natural history of the material. I started with the common star design, and soon my customers helped shape the product line by providing input and requests for new pieces. In fact, the framed prints came directly from a customer request. I attempt to make each design unique and try to add a couple of new items each year.  The lath currently used on our frames and crafts is the wood used to dry tobacco. I obtain it from local farm dispersal auctions. The tobacco lath is dark, natural wood used to dry tobacco naturally weathered from years of use. This ensures that every piece has its own unique character, unlike any other. The material we use is hard to find, which makes your decor even more valuable. In 2013, I started promoting the crafts and decor to the local showcase in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. In 2018, I acquired and re-opened East Side Frames, a long-standing business much loved by stitchwork designers, retails and wholesalers alike. I hope you enjoy these products! Please do not hesitate to contact me with any custom requests.
